The Ladies of the Nishna Church of Christ met for the first time, May 18th, 1978 almost two years after the first meeting to establish a church here in Red Oak , Iowa. Since there was no church building at the time, the monthly meetings were held in the homes of the women who belonged. It has been tradition that after the business of the group was conducted, there has been a Biblical lesson and refreshments.
The new building was completed and the dedication was held November 30th, 1980. The women got busy and held the first Vacation Bible School in June of 1981.

Today the ladies continue to be involved with the basic needs of the congregation. Although our needs sometimes change, they most always include, preparation of the communion served each week, the weekly cleaning of the building, and the organizing of our fellowship activities which happen at least once a month. They ladies recently started a project which involves a "Kindness Box." This box is filled each month with donations of different items (food, clothing, toys, etc.) for any family in our community that comes to the attention of the church as needing help. The Ladies also make up some awesome "goodie tray" given to a select group of people in our community at Christmas. In December 2012, the ladies collected 65 pairs of newborn socks which were donated to the hospital ward obstetrical ward. They also donate snacks to the oncology department at the hospital as an ongoing project.

The Lord's Ladies now meet at the church building on the first Monday of every month at 7:00 pm. They take a break during the Summer months (to assist with the outside upkeep.) The women also keep the cupboards stocked with necessary items (paper plates, cups, towels, coffee, etc.) as well as supporting different missions. Each meeting is stilled followed by a Biblical lesson and great snacks. The Ladies would love to have you come join them in their mission.
